Installation Views of The Future is Broken, a solo exhibition at the Marsh Gallery, Herron School of Art & Design, Indianapolis, IN. the Exhibition was on view from November 17 - December 17, 2019.
Description of the Exhibition:
Turning to new digital technologies such as laser etching, Pixelsticks, and video projection mapping, I have created a series of augmented multi-media landscapes which address my anxiety for the future of our planet and the landscapes that have physically and metaphorically shaped my identity as an American. Photographing both the beautiful and already disfigured, my process employs overlaying a reality check of data points and satellite images gleaned from scientific sources along with personal sentiments of lament using innovative light and laser etching techniques. With a history of using the camera to investigate how our relationship to nature is informed by science, this new body of work seeks to bring awareness to the psychological value of our threatened landscapes in the era of the Anthropocene. This was the first solo exhibition of work from The Future is Broken series. The exhibition included the premiere of Tipping Point #1--Coastal Realities, a 3D projection mapped video sculpture that addresses sea level rise and the future of the Florida coastline.
